Chapter 23: The Bike Race

- Who's that Pokemon from last time: Diglett

- Last time Silver won the Thunder Badge from Lt. Surge

(RBY Bike Music Plays)

Author: with my new trip wire and Octillery system that Voice-Over wont.......

--Voice-Over: maybe you should keep an eye on your back doors

Author: damn you, enyjoy

- 2 days later

Silver: well now that we all have Thunder Badges, now what?

Jordan: what was that you were talking about 2 days ago Samson?

Samson: well i overheard a conversation of there being a bike race in a few days time

Silver: but we don't have bikes, how can we....

- just then the head of the Pokemon Fan Club in Vermillion came into the pokemon center

Fan Club Pres: hohoho did i hear someone not having bkies for tomorrow's race?

Jordan: no, you must be hearing things

Fan Club Pres: hohoho, my ears don't lie kids, here i have 3 Bike Vouchers

Silver: really: you're just gonna give them to us?

Samson: is it christmas already?

Fan Club Pres: no no, i don't need them, and you did save the S.S. Anne, my fvourite cruise ship in Kanto

Silver: oh, well i guess we better get to a bike shop then

Jordan: but isn't the nearest bike shop in Cerulean?

- a couple of hours later...

Silver: wow! look at this place

Hero: impressive, isn't it? we put alot of work into this

Jordan: where's the Bike Shop?

Hero: (points) why, over there

S, Sa and J: thanks

Bike Shop man: ah, customers what can i do for you

- Silver, Jordan and Samson flash their Vouchers

Bike Shop man: in exchange for 3 bikes? certainly

- The Bike Shop man gives them the 3 bikes and they bike back to vermillion as they arrive the organizer of the Route 11 Bike Race approaches them

ANON: you look like you want to enter our annual Bike Race tomorrow?

Silver: yea

ANON: great! just put your names on the sign-up sheet

- Silver, Jordan and Samson sign-up for the race and park their Bikes
at the pokemon center and sleep there overnight
- The Next day......

Silver: man i feel nervous

Jordan: come on Silver, it'll be fun

Silver: for a second there i though you were gonna......

Rick: you guys in the race too?

Jordan: Rick, i thought you were training?

Rick: i was, but this sounds like fun and i was planning on going through Route 11 anyway

Announcer: ladies and gentleman, welcome to the 3rd Annual Route 11 Bike Race, the rules are quite simple, you have to get to the finish line on Route 12 any way you like, just be weary of shortcuts too, now bikes to st starting line, 3, 2, 1, *gun shot* begin!

- and all the cyclists start the race, everyone trying to gain an edge on the others when...

ANON 2: hey, what's with the bridge?

ANON 3: Poliwhirl, Ice Beam!

- just like that, some cyclists took the slower bridge route, whilst the others including Silver and co. took the ice bridge

Silver: hey, thanks for that, you helped us out (speeds off)

ANON 3: darn it

Rick: move it or lose it! (speeds off too)

Jordan: hey! wait for meee! (also speeds off, and takes over Silver)

- Jordan and Rick made a comfortable lead over the others, then a few moments later...

Jordan: great just great, a shortcut, but do i....

Rick: eat my dust Jordan, i suggest you keep out of the forest if you don't have any bug spray or bug pokemon

Jordan: oh really? (enters forest)

Rick: Scyther cut a way through!

Jordan: thanks for the...(a kakuna appears randomly)...ahhh (hits a bush) agh damn it

Rick: (laughs) Jordan as much as i like you, you really should've taken my advice, see ya

Announcer: well would you look at that, Rick the bug catcher has caught a big lead by taking that shortcut, whilst Jordan looks as if he is down for the count

Samson: hmm... should i take the forest or not?

Silver: (passes Samson) it's a no brainer Samson

ANON 3: (passes Samson) yea, the forest is too dangerous

Samson: ok then, there's no way you're gonna win

Silver: hey wait a minute where's Jordan?

- meanwhile in the forest...

Jordan: thnks Ivysaur, man i hope my bike isn't totalled (checks) nope still ok, now i can get back into the race

Announcer: now it looks like a closely fought race for 2nd place as we have Silver, ANON 3, and Samson battling it out, and now we have Jordan back in the race, but can any of them catch up to Rick?

Samson: (looks over) there's Jordan, he just came out of that forest

Silver: ok so now it's a 4 horse race

Jordan: oh really? Rick far ahead of us

Silver: what?

Jordan: yea i took the same shortcut as him but i fell into a bush thanks to a kakuna

ANON 3: whilst you ladies are talking i'll take 2nd place, bye

Silver: oh no you don't

- meanwhile...

Rick: oh man, now what do i do? the finish is on the other side and there's a big boulder in the way

ANON 3: i can see someone in front

Silver: all i see is a big rock

Jordan: there's Rick!

Announcer: what a shocking turn of events, it looked as if Rick was gonna be the outright winner when a giant boulder has blocked the path to the finish line and now Silver, ANON 3, Samson and Jordan have caught up, the end of the race certainly will be interesting

Samson: oh great, it looks like noone is gonna win, and the other competitors are slowly coming in the distance

Rick: i'm not gonna lose because of some stupid boulder

ANON 3: Poliwhirl, Hydro Pump!

- Poliwhirl put alot of power into its attack but the boulder didn't budge

ANON 3: drat!

Silver: that won't work

ANON 3: and what are you gonna do brainiac?

Silver: this, Diglett get out there!

DIGLETT: diggg lettt (leave it to me!)

Silver: use Magnitude

- a pretty big earthquake is felt at magnitude 4, it was enough to desroy the rock

Silver: success, return Diglett!

Jordan: wait up!

ANON 3: oh no you don't

Samson: oh yea?

Rick: that victory is mine!

Announcer: this is it! Silver's Diglett managed to destroy the boulder and now it is a 5 horse race, let's see who will win!

S, A, Sa, J and R: aaaaaa!!!! aaaaaahhhhh!!

- the cyclists were going so fast that a huge dust cloud was createdand covered the finish line, just as they crossed it. A special x-ray camera is used to find out the winner

Announcer: this has got to be the closest Route 11 bike race i have ever seen, and the winner is.......Samson!! 2nd place going to Rick and 3rd going to Silver

Samson: man that was the closest race ever

Silver: i'll say

Announcer: ....and Samson receives his prize of $10,000, and now the other competitors are crossing the line, this has been the most exciting bike race ever, well done to all, andf that brings another bike race to a close

Jordan: now that's over we can get on with going through route 12

ANON 3: just one problem though..... (looks up)

Silver: oh my god, a huge boulder is blocking our path?!!
