In short, the government is trying to take control of the internet and certain sites are blacking out on Wednesday. I posted a more, in-depth article, over on Generation Z, but I wanted to get your opinions on this.

So what do you think?

I do not want this to happen. They can't ruin the internet!

Incorrect. Businesses want control of the Internet (supposedly), not the government. They just get the power for it.

I did black out my DeviantART page Tuesday and Wednesday. I think it may have brought in some views LOL

never happen and the internet is peacefully telling them no. If they pass it, I doubt things remain peaceful.

Typical; these republicans are bought out by greedy corporations (in this case, the movie industry. Seriously, these people make like billions.), and they use their power to get even more money....

Anyway, political rants aside, I don't like it.

The government has already shutdown megaupload without the law even being in effect. I think they're overstepping their boundry.

The shutdown of MegaUpload was not due in part by SOPA or PIPA. The site has been under investigation for some time, and has millions of illegal content being hosted on its site. It's all basic copyright law.

After the blackout on Wednesday it appears the support for the SOPA/PIPA bill is weakening -> In wake of Web blackout, SOPA/PIPA support weakens.
